Oda Nobunaga pursues the unification of the entire country and fights against rivals on multiple fronts, including the Mori, Takeda, and Uesugi clans. In the midst of these battles, Nobunaga’s own vassal, Araki Murashige, stages a rebellion against him and then disappears. Nobunaga gathers his vassals, including Akechi Mitsuhide and Hashiba Hideyoshi, and orders them to find Murashige. He promises that the one who is successful will become his successor. Hideyoshi along with his younger brother Hidenaga and his military adviser Kuroda Kanbei devises a secret plan. They recruit storyteller Sorori Shinzaemon, who is a former ninja, to find Murashige. Beyond the capture of Murashige, Hideyoshi plans to take control over the country by removing Nobunaga and Mitsuhide. (Source: AsianWiki) Adapted from the novel "Kubi" (首) by Kitano Takeshi (北野武).
